Felting With BrĂd O'Kane

May 3rd 2019

On Friday May 3rd, 3rd and 4th class had the privilege of a visit from local embroidery artist (and parent!) Brid O'Kane. Brids technique involves using a basic sewing machine, dropping the feed dog and ‘drawing with thread on canvas’. Brid brought a selection of her work for us to see. We then had a wet felting workshop. Each pupil created a unique piece of colourful fabric from roving wool. We really enjoyed watching the individual wool fibres bind together to make fabric that we made into keyrings and bookmarks. It was a great experience for us all and we would like to thank Brid for taking the time to share her expertise. For more on Brids work click here.
