The children from 3rd – 6th class recently had their “Day of Action” for biodiversity in Curragh Chase Forest Park as part of the Learning about Forests programme. It was a great day full of exploring and learning. The children were split into groups and took part in a variety of workshops. They learned about the history of Curragh Chase Park, its grand house and arboretum. They got to make shelters and crafts out of wood and how to measure the height of and age of trees. They also got to collect various items from the forest floor and examined what they found. It was a great day and enjoyed by all.
Thanks to Rachel Geary, Seán Hartigan and those at the Learning About Forests Programme for facilitating our visit to Curragh Chase and for sponsoring transport to and from the venue.
